District to talk bond plans at open house

East Grand Rapids — Voters and the community at large will have a chance to learn more about an upcoming bond proposal from East Grand Rapids Public Schools during an open house at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12.

The open house will be held at East Grand Rapids High School, 2211 Lake Drive SE, East Grand Rapids.

The school district has the bond request primed for the Nov. 7 ballot. The proposal aims to generate $158.9 million for upgrades and improvements at all six EGRPS buildings, according to information recently released by the school district. No tax-rate increase is estimated from the current rate.

The brunt of the funds would go to the construction of a new multi-story addition to the high school. Funds would also go toward facility improvements and new construction projects at the other school buildings, including an addition to Woodcliff Early Childhood Center.

The proposal is primed for the Nov. 7 ballot.

Additional information is available on the school district’s website.
