Coming soon: new playgrounds

Caledonia — Caledonia and Emmons Lake Elementaries are getting their playgrounds revamped this fall.

Voters approved a $61 million supplemental bond this past May to fund playground enhancements, in addition to construction of a new Dutton Elementary School, football stadium renovations, and other projects previously removed from the 2020 bond to cut costs.

Students from these schools can look forward to seeing rock walls and rope climbers, new slides and swing sets.

The new playground equipment is being installed by Holland-based company Sinclair Recreation. They worked with the building principals and the districts’ Executive Director Of Operations and Transportation Matthew Hess to select and design the installations.

“We are working to keep our playgrounds equipped with high quality, long lifecycle equipment that will provide adventurous, fun and safe play for our students for a long time,” Hess said.

Kettle Lake Elementary’s playground will also get an upgrade in 2024.
