A new, shared role for two familiar faces

Thornapple Kellogg — Gregg Bruno and Jeff Dock are the new assistant principals at Thornapple Kellogg High School.

Previous positions in education:

  • Bruno was principal at Page Elementary for four years.
  • Dock was a science and biology teacher at Lansing Catholic High School for one year and at TKHS for 17 years. He also has coached the TKHS football team since 2017.

On changing grade levels: “I began my career as a high school teacher, (and) I loved being at Page, but when this opportunity opened up,” Bruno said, “I couldn’t pass it up.”

Said Dock: “After 17 years in the classroom at TKHS, this role is a new challenge. It’s something different, and gives me the chance to make a positive impact in a different role.”

What they’re excited about: “Being back in a high school and getting to work with students when they’re on the cusp of ‘what happens next,’” Bruno said, “whether that’s college or career, and getting to have those conversations.”

Said Dock: “Figuring out my new role and navigating through challenges,” and “building positive relationships with students and staff.”
