Godfrey-Lee — Godfrey-Lee voters approved a renewal of the district’s non-homestead, 18-mill operating levy on Tuesday, by a vote of 1,179 to 927, or 56%.
Thanks to voters, the district will receive the full per-pupil foundation allowance for the next 10 years. That equates to more than $1.1 million each year and represents 3% of the annual general fund budget. The millage applies to industrial, commercial and business properties and second homes, not primary residences.
The approval followed a previous 10-year non-homestead operating tax levy renewal passed in 2014.
Superintendent Arnetta Thompson said the operating millage renewal will give Godfrey-Lee the opportunity to receive full funding to meet the needs of students.
“We are thrilled that our community understands how important the non-homestead millage is for our students,” she said. “We are grateful to have a community committed to continued support and seeing our students succeed.”
