Student filmmaker: ‘I want to tell people’s stories in their own way’

Second installation of district’s video series

‘Everyone is different,’ says Nuha Hussein, a senior and accomplished videographer

Kentwood — Nuha Hussein described East Kentwood High School as “Different people, different cultures, 150 languages.”

“It’s taught me to understand that everyone is different,” said the senior and accomplished videographer, who tells her own story in the second installment of a new video series created by Kentwood Public Schools and Aves Films

The series, called “Through the Eyes of Our Students,” shares stories of individual students who attend Kentwood Public Schools. The district is the most diverse in Michigan.

Students featured, like Nuha, often will represent a larger group of students in the district. Nuha was also featured in SNN for a news segment she created on climate change for PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs 2024 Summer Academy. She was recently selected to serve on the Student Advisory Team for the PBS News Student Reporting Lab.

School News Network will share future videos in the series as well.
