Kent ISD — The Kent Career Tech Center will be hosting its annual open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 5 and 6.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Tech Center’s two-building campus, 1655 E. Beltline Ave. NE. The Tech Center offers several programs in engineering, manufacturing, health, business, marketing, technology, arts and communication, culinary and hospitality, human services and agriscience.

The Tech Center also is the home to the Teacher Academy and the Career Orientation Readiness Experiences, a program that helps high-school students who are not ready for independent and competitive employment transition from school to work.

During the open house, classrooms will be open for demonstrations and an opportunity to talk to instructors. Student services and enrollment will be available and light refreshments will be served by the Tech Center’s culinary department.

The Tech Center also offers an aviation electronics and maintenance program, 4958 Van Lar Dr. SE, adjacent to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. The open house for the aviation program is 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 12.

Students who are 16 years old on or before Dec. 1 and have completed the 10th grade (except for programs designed for sophomores or beyond) are eligible to participate at the Tech Center. The student must be attending a public, parochial or private school in the Kent ISD area or a homeschooled student living in Kent County.
