Sponsor brief — Grand Rapids Community College has extended its application period for the Inherit the Dream Scholarship, an annual $1,000 award in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There is currently no set deadline.
Eligible students will be graduating high-school seniors from Kent ISD-area districts who plan to attend GRCC full time. They should have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 and should identify as a member of a historically underserved or underrepresented group. They should also demonstrate a commitment to community service.
Applicants must submit a one-page essay answering the question: “Why is college important to me?” plus a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach or mentor, and a copy of their high-school transcript covering six semesters. Entries can be submitted on the GRCC website.
