Through his eyes, he communicates

Kentwood — East Kentwood High School sophomore Mawqar, aka Mo, smiles brightly as he moves through the hallways and classrooms. He communicates with peers and teachers by using an eye-gaze device.

“In some parts of the world I wouldn’t even have access to education. I feel special at Kentwood because it has great opportunities that other schools don’t,” said Mo, who comes from Jordan, on his device.

Mo is featured in the third video of a series called “Through the Eyes of Our Students,” created by Kentwood Public Schools and Aves Films. It shares stories of individual students who attend Kentwood Public Schools. The district is the most diverse in Michigan.

School News Network will share future videos in the series as well.
