Education Everywhere — Families taking a “staycation” during spring break can visit the Grand Rapids Public Museum for two weeks of special theme days through April 13.
The special themes are offered in addition to all the other exhibits currently on display at the museum. The theme days scheduled are:
- Monday, March 31: Literacy Day
- Tuesday, April 1: Early Childhood Day
- Wednesday, April 2: STEAM Day
- Thursday, April 3: Paleontology Day
- Friday, April 4: Baseball Day
- Saturday, April 5: Carnival Day
- Sunday: April 6: Game Day
- Monday: April 7: Island Getaway
- Tuesday, April 8: Camp Curious Day
- Wednesday, April 9: Griffins and Rise Day
- Thursday, April 10: LEGO® Day
- Friday, April 11: Water Wonders Day
- Saturday, April 12: Nature of Color Day
- Sunday, April 13: Sensory Sunday
Special events include a presentation about the Clapp Family Mastodon for Paleontology Day on April 3, entertainment by jugglers and face painters for Carnival Day on April 5 and photo opportunities with a mermaid for Water Wonders Day on April 11. There is no additional charge beyond general admission to the museum for the themed days. General admission includes access to all three floors of the museum and the traveling exhibit from the American Museum of Natural History, The Nature of Color, which is in Grand Rapids through April 13. Shows at the Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium are an additional $4 for non-members and $2 for members.
An advance ticket purchase is recommended and Kent County children under the age of 17 are free. Reduced general admission tickets are available for EBT/WIC cardholders.
